Weekly Chamber Update

The August Chamber newsletter is at Citywide for printing right now and we will need help assembling it because the Maine East HS students are off for the rest of the summer. Let me know if you can help for even an hour (stuffing, sorting, labeling, sealing – nothing heavy).

I hope to see you this evening at Blufish Sushi Bistro from 5 to 7 for the Grand Opening & Ribbon Cutting. We’ll cut the ribbon as soon as the mayor arrives around 6 or so.

We’re looking for sponsors for the golf outing which is Monday, September 12. If you’d like to help out, let me know. We’re running an early bird special – if you sign up and pay by August 12, you’ll get early bird discounts for golfing at a private club!

And don’t forget that our Business After Hours is this Thursday, 5 to 7, at the Elks Lodge! See below for details.

Park Ridge Chamber of Commerce members are well read! The Women in Business networking event for July was the 5th annual book discussion and brought in a lively crowd of members each passionate about their books! Maggie Hommel, Reader Services Manager, Park Ridge Public Library lead the book discussion over a light, summer meal of assorted sandwich wraps, fresh fruit, desserts and beverages all catered by Perry's on Devon. The great list of recommended books is on the Event Photos section of the Chamber website. Check it out here!

Weekly Chamber Update

Over the weekend, we had dinner at two Chamber restaurants: Blufish Sushi Bistro and Outback Steakhouse.
--Both were excellent!

This Friday is the Women in Business annual book review luncheon. It’s always a full house so no more than 50 please since it will be here at 720 Garden. Perry’s Pizzeria is catering with assorted sandwich wraps (Thai Chicken, Veggie, California Turkey and Chicken Caesar), fresh fruit, desserts and drinks. You’ll get a list of great books to read to last you until next year! So bring your reviews of your favorite books – business or personal, doesn’t matter as long as it inspired you in some way!

Also, we have a few ribbon cuttings coming up for some new members. If you’d like to have one, let me know.

Thank you to Riggio’s Restaurant who hosted our monthly networking luncheon last Wednesday with 24 members in attendance. Riggio’s has been a member of the Park Ridge Chamber for 27 years. Nick Brait (President, Lasting Legacy, Ltd), was the featured speaker, and shed some light on how to prepare for that time in life when everything falls apart in the middle of your successful business life because you or your partner is suddenly alone. Riggio’s served an excellent meal of Italian salad, Penne Pasta with Marinara, Chicken Marsala with roasted potatoes and vegetables, and Spumoni for dessert in a private banquet room. Tony Riggio, himself, was on hand to greet fellow Chamber members.

Visit these great local businesses in the booths next to Hodges Park on Saturday!
Riggio’s Restaurant will be hosting the upcoming monthly networking luncheon (July 13, Wednesday from 11:30-1:30pm) You have devoted enormous amounts of time, energy and money in building and maintaining your business. But what happens if the unthinkable occurs? What happens if you die or become disabled? This is obviously not a fun topic but one that, as a professional, you need to address. Our speaker, Nick Brait (President, Lasting Legacy, LTD), will shed some light on how to prepare for that time when life falls apart. ($25 members and $30 prospective members)
Would you like to receive recognition for your beautifully landscaped home? The City of Park Ridge, the Park Ridge Garden Club and the Park Ridge Chamber of Commerce are co-sponsoring a Beautification Awards Program for all residents in the City of Park Ridge.
Judging will be done by an independent non-biased committee and will be done on the street view portion of the property only. If interested in entering, print out application here!
