Marianne Janesku and Patsy Annis are the co-chairs for the Marbach Garden Committee. We are having our first meeting of the year on Thursday, May 19, at 6:00PM at Marbach Garden which is located at Wildwood Nature Center, 2701 West Sibley Ave. At this meeting we will check the condition of the garden, view the perennials and bushes we planted last year. We will discuss and plan the next phase of the garden, to be completed this year. This will be a meeting for approximately an hour.
On Saturday, May 21, at 9:00AM the committee will meet again to do the clean up and some planting. Bring rakes, shovels, gloves and garden tools. With the addition of the paths and bench, it has been reported that many people have sat and enjoyed our evolving garden.

Time is running out to make your donation to the Save Iannelli Studios initiative. Just $10 from every person in Park Ridge—though more would certainly be appreciated—will help us reach our challenge goal of $400,000 by July 4. A matching grant of $1 for every $2 raised up to that amount will make it possible for the Kalo Foundation to preserve this historic structure for Park Ridge where Alfonso Iannelli lived and worked for 45 years establishing one of the region’s most famous—and successful—commercial art firms. The studio was “the place where Chicago’s creative architecture found its art,” according to historian Tim Samuelson, who says the site is integral to the design roots of American Modernism.

The Park Ridge Rotary Club Volunteers for Parent Patrol
Inspired by a recent visit by Park Ridge Police Chief Frank Kaminski and Margaret Polovchak of Main Community Assistance Foundation, Park Ridge Rotarians have volunteered for the Parent Patrol.
The Parent Patrol is an innovative program initiated by Police Chief Frank Kaminski. “The volunteer patrol group works on Friday and Saturday nights to keep teens safe, with particular attention to curbing underage drinking.”
“Parent Patrol volunteers must be at least 21 years of age and commit to be available on or two weekends in 2011 from 2:00 a.m. on Friday or Saturday nights.” Park Ridge Rotarians Tony Tolbert (Past District Governor 6440), Pat Ahern (Incoming Park Ridge Rotary President), Rick Libner, Rev (Ret) John Alan Boryk, Al Bartel, Don Ely, Marta Hoover, and Maureen Connelly have volunteered so far.
Those who wish to volunteer can contact Police Chief Frank Kaminski at (847) 318-5261 or fkaminski@parkridgeplice.org. Training will be scheduled soon for Park Ridge Rotarians and others. Al Bartel, Park Ridge Rotary Director of Community Service, has just received this week from Police Chief Frank Kaminski training DVDs and is now distributing them to Park Ridge Rotarians. “The training will include information on the role and responsibilities of Parent Patrol members, why underage drinking is harmful and dangerous, current community efforts to address teen alcohol use and background on underage alcohol prevalence and attitudes.”
Information quoted above about Parent Patrol is from Cheryll DeYoung and Margaret Polovchak of Main Community Youth Assistance Foundation. “MCYAF and its partners support efforts by police and parents to keep teens safe.”
Park Ridge Rotarians have joined this effort. Rotary’s motto is “Service above Self.” Service to the community is very important to Park Ridge Rotarians and they are willing to commit their time and effort to help keep our teens safe. Members of the Health Forum are designing programs for both Chamber members and residents of Park Ridge and surrounding communities. The main idea at this point is a series of FREE seminars/screenings/health infomercials on the first and third Thursdays at the Park Ridge Senior Center from 6pm- 8pm beginning May 19th. We will offer resource sponsorships to support the programs and provide an opportunity for businesses to showcase their services. The cost of the sponsorships will contribute to advertising, marketing and refreshments.

Community Collaboration Creates a Home Sweet Home for Park Ridge
In the current decline of the housing market, it takes a little something extra to have your house noticed amidst the unsold and foreclosed homes. For one Park Ridge home, that something extra happens to be an entire community coming together to showcase local businesses and to support Rainbow Hospice and Palliative Care.
On Saturday, May 21st from 6:00-9:00pm, “Home Sweet Home” will showcase the elegant residence of 530 North Ashland Avenue in Park Ridge. The home, listed by Park Ridge based Sebastian Realty will play host to home furnishings by Amphora and local fashions by New Prospects and Pines for Men in the latest event from Rainbow Hospice and Palliative Care.
For the past two years, a summer event hosted by Rainbow Hospice and Amphora Home Store in Park Ridge has been a big hit with the local community. For a small ticket price, partygoers get to experience great food, furnishings and a whole host of themes and events.
In addition to this year’s showcase, there will also be parking shuttle service provided by Liberty Bank for Savings, fabulous appetizers from All on the Road Catering and tea & chocolate pairings from TeaLula and Rocky Mountain Choclate Factory, as well as music by local Chicago jazz group, Joe Brown and Friends.
“This is an amazing collaboration of local business, real estate and non-profit that gives residents the opportunity to support their community and have a great time,” said Jackie Mathews, Special Events Director for Rainbow Hospice and Board President of the Park Ridge Chamber of Commerce.

Congratulations to our beautiful and smart Chamber president, Jackie Mathews, on graduating Summa Cum Laude (which means ‘with highest honors’) from North Park University in Organizational Management & Leadership.

The gentleman from SCORE discussed the history of the group which is a part of the Small Business Administration. They’re retired executives who mentor businesses at no charge. www.score.org Jean Lempke and Nina Taluc, Kidwinks.com, have been using their services since they started their company and Jean spoke at the luncheon about how SCORE has helped them. Jean Fagan, Fundamental Connections, was also asked (impromptu – and did a great job!) to discuss her experiences with SCORE.

The first Friday of every month starting June 3, “First Fridays” in Park Ridge offers an easy solution: A fun, themed evening with stores open late, special presentations and displays, and great deals from restaurants.

Kalo Foundation
Time is running out to make your donation to the Save Iannelli Studios initiative. Just $10 from every person in Park Ridge—though more would certainly be appreciated—will help us reach our challenge goal of $400,000 by July 4. A matching grant of $1 for every $2 raised up to that amount will make it possible for the Kalo Foundation to preserve this historic structure for Park Ridge where Alfonso Iannelli lived and worked for 45 years establishing one of the region’s most famous—and successful—commercial art firms. The studio was “the place where Chicago’s creative architecture found its art,” according to historian Tim Samuelson, who says the site is integral to the design roots of American Modernism.

There is a lot of truth to that statement and you can learn more about this relationship by attending the Timely Talk on “Advancements in Dentistry and Oral Health,” at 2:00 p.m., on May 18, at Norwood Crossing, 6016-20 N. Nina Ave. in Chicago. Parking is available in the lot behind the building, entrance is off Avondale Avenue.
Dr. Claire Brammeier, a general practice dentist on staff at Resurrection Medical Center, will provide an informative and interactive afternoon. In a power point presentation, she will provide current information about proper oral care, diabetic dental tips, dry mouth, advancements with dentures, and current oral care products. A question and answer session will follow.

Concerts in the Park
PRFAS is holding our annual ad cover contest and offering the opportunity to Maine East and other Park Ridge students to participate in this event. PRFAS will pick 1st and 2nd place winner for the $100 and $75 prize. The winning covers will grace our 2011 summer ad booklet. We distribute 2,000 to 3,000 booklets every year to concert attendees, sponsors and advertisers of this program.
Our organization was established so professionally played orchestral music could be shared with residents of Park Ridge. It is free to the public through solicited donations and sponsors. Our 50 man-orchestra plays weekly Friday concerts on the steps of City Hall in front of our Hodges Park audience. This event is attended by an audience of thousands from June through August. The audience is comprised of families and senior groups. It’s like a mini-Ravinia in our own community in the wooded picnic setting of Hodges Park.
Please do not use any Park Ridge buildings in cover since we are not affiliated with any of these buildings or organizations. Our group is comprised strictly of volunteers and we work out of our homes. The ad cover submission should be original and not a reproduction, duplication or alteration of any previously published work.
Our music director is Barbara Schubert. If the music director is depicted in the artwork, we ask that you use a female figure. Barbara is tall, blond, willowy slender and generally wears black evening gowns when she conducts. Go to our website for more information and pictures.

The main idea at this point is a series of FREE seminars/screenings/health infomercials on the first and third Thursdays at the Park Ridge Senior Center from 6pm- 8pm beginning May 19th. We will offer resource sponsorships to support the programs and provide an opportunity for businesses to showcase their services. Community Collaboration Creates a Home Sweet Home for Park Ridge
In the current decline of the housing market, it takes a little something extra to have your house noticed amidst the unsold and foreclosed homes. For one Park Ridge home, that something extra happens to be an entire community coming together to showcase local businesses and to support Rainbow Hospice and Palliative Care.
On Saturday, May 21st from 6:00-9:00pm, “Home Sweet Home” will showcase the elegant residence of 530 North Ashland Avenue in Park Ridge. The home, listed by Park Ridge based Sebastian Realty will play host to home furnishings by Amphora and local fashions by New Prospects and Pines for Men in the latest event from Rainbow Hospice and Palliative Care.
For the past two years, a summer event hosted by Rainbow Hospice and Amphora Home Store in Park Ridge has been a big hit with the local community. For a small ticket price, partygoers get to experience great food, furnishings and a whole host of themes and events.
In addition to this year’s showcase, there will also be parking shuttle service provided by Liberty Bank for Savings, fabulous appetizers from All on the Road Catering and tea & chocolate pairings from TeaLula and Rocky Mountain Choclate Factory, as well as music by local Chicago jazz group, Joe Brown and Friends.
“This is an amazing collaboration of local business, real estate and non-profit that gives residents the opportunity to support their community and have a great time,” said Jackie Mathews, Special Events Director for Rainbow Hospice and Board President of the Park Ridge Chamber of Commerce.

Kalo Foundation
Time is running out to make your donation to the Save Iannelli Studios initiative. Just $10 from every person in Park Ridge—though more would certainly be appreciated—will help us reach our challenge goal of $400,000 by July 4. A matching grant of $1 for every $2 raised up to that amount will make it possible for the Kalo Foundation to preserve this historic structure for Park Ridge where Alfonso Iannelli lived and worked for 45 years establishing one of the region’s most famous—and successful—commercial art firms. The studio was “the place where Chicago’s creative architecture found its art,” according to historian Tim Samuelson, who says the site is integral to the design roots of American Modernism.
“ADVANCEMENTS IN DENTISTRY AND ORAL HEALTH” - MAY 18
Maybe you have heard that a healthy mouth equals a healthy body. There is a lot of truth to that statement and you can learn more about this relationship by attending the Timely Talk on “Advancements in Dentistry and Oral Health,” at 2:00 p.m., on May 18, at Norwood Crossing, 6016-20 N. Nina Ave. in Chicago. Parking is available in the lot behind the building, entrance is off Avondale Avenue.
Dr. Claire Brammeier, a general practice dentist on staff at Resurrection Medical Center, will provide an informative and interactive afternoon. In a power point presentation, she will provide current information about proper oral care, diabetic dental tips, dry mouth, advancements with dentures, and current oral care products. A question and answer session will follow.

Concerts in the Park
PRFAS is holding our annual ad cover contest and offering the opportunity to Maine East and other Park Ridge students to participate in this event. PRFAS will pick 1st and 2nd place winner for the $100 and $75 prize. The winning covers will grace our 2011 summer ad booklet. We distribute 2,000 to 3,000 booklets every year to concert attendees, sponsors and advertisers of this program.
Our organization was established so professionally played orchestral music could be shared with residents of Park Ridge. It is free to the public through solicited donations and sponsors. Our 50 man-orchestra plays weekly Friday concerts on the steps of City Hall in front of our Hodges Park audience. This event is attended by an audience of thousands from June through August. The audience is comprised of families and senior groups. It’s like a mini-Ravinia in our own community in the wooded picnic setting of Hodges Park.
Please do not use any Park Ridge buildings in cover since we are not affiliated with any of these buildings or organizations. Our group is comprised strictly of volunteers and we work out of our homes. The ad cover submission should be original and not a reproduction, duplication or alteration of any previously published work.
Our music director is Barbara Schubert. If the music director is depicted in the artwork, we ask that you use a female figure. Barbara is tall, blond, willowy slender and generally wears black evening gowns when she conducts. Go to our website for more information and pictures.

Members of the Health Forum are designing programs for both Chamber members and residents of Park Ridge and surrounding communities. The main idea at this point is a series of FREE seminars/screenings/health infomercials on the first and third Thursdays at the Park Ridge Senior Center from 6pm- 8pm beginning May 19th. We will offer resource sponsorships to support the programs and provide an opportunity for businesses to showcase their services. The cost of the sponsorships will contribute to advertising, marketing and refreshments.

Community Collaboration Creates a Home Sweet Home for Park Ridge
In the current decline of the housing market, it takes a little something extra to have your house noticed amidst the unsold and foreclosed homes. For one Park Ridge home, that something extra happens to be an entire community coming together to showcase local businesses and to support Rainbow Hospice and Palliative Care.
On Saturday, May 21st from 6:00-9:00pm, “Home Sweet Home” will showcase the elegant residence of 530 North Ashland Avenue in Park Ridge. The home, listed by Park Ridge based Sebastian Realty will play host to home furnishings by Amphora and local fashions by New Prospects and Pines for Men in the latest event from Rainbow Hospice and Palliative Care.
For the past two years, a summer event hosted by Rainbow Hospice and Amphora Home Store in Park Ridge has been a big hit with the local community. For a small ticket price, partygoers get to experience great food, furnishings and a whole host of themes and events.
In addition to this year’s showcase, there will also be parking shuttle service provided by Liberty Bank for Savings, fabulous appetizers from All on the Road Catering and tea & chocolate pairings from TeaLula and Rocky Mountain Choclate Factory, as well as music by local Chicago jazz group, Joe Brown and Friends.
“This is an amazing collaboration of local business, real estate and non-profit that gives residents the opportunity to support their community and have a great time,” said Jackie Mathews, Special Events Director for Rainbow Hospice and Board President of the Park Ridge Chamber of Commerce.
All proceeds from the event go to support Rainbow Hospice and Palliative Care for their work in caring for the terminally ill and bereaved within the community. Tickets are available online by visiting www.RainbowHospice.org or by calling 847-292-2353.

Gail's Weekly Chamber UDPATE
What a great Mothers Day weekend! The weather was lovely and we visited with many Chamber members starting Friday night at Hay Caramba’s, Saturday morning pancake breakfast with the Kiwanis, StageCoach, Tasty Pup for lunch, visited with Donna at Summit Specialtees, bought books at the library book sale, arts and crafts fair in Hodges Park, and then pictures in front of the former Iannelli studio for a “This Place Matters” grant that Karen Larsen is applying to. And yesterday at The Moorings for a wonderful Mothers Day luncheon with all the extended family (my in-laws live there).

Last Week Thanks Our lunch by Noodles last Wednesday was fabulous! The Special Agent from the FBI gave a great presentation regarding white collar crime and we had over 40 in attendance. Thank you to the Park Ridge Police Department for coordinating the FBI presentation and to Holly Smith at Noodles for providing a delicious lunch!
Entrepreneurs gathered at Regus on Thursday. Lynda Tourloukis facilitates that group and all are invited to attend – always the first Thursday from 10 to 11:30.

Rog Loeffler spent his career in print media, magazine, newspaper and catalog. He was with the Sears catalog for 40 years the last 26 as Editor-in-Chief. Roger is a long time Park Ridge resident and attended Loyola and Northwestern Universities. Rog has been a SCORE counselor for 16 years.
Leo Dietlin spent his career in Marketing, Sales Management and General Management. He has owned parts of three companies in the consumer packaged goods industries. The last 11 years he and a partner owned and ran a food processing company in Milwaukee. Leo has lived in Park Ridge for over 33 years and graduated from The Ohio State University and the Kellogg Management Institute. He has been a SCORE counselor for 3 years.
Roger will address the history of Score, Leo will talk about what SCORE does today and how SCORE can help the Chamber Members. Jean Lemke and Nina Taluc from Kidwinks will talk about how SCORE has helped them.
SCORE is the Service Corps of Retired Executives and is part of the Small Business Administration. www.score.org SCORE is a nonprofit association dedicated to educating entrepreneurs and helping small businesses start, grow, and succeed nationwide. SCORE is a resource partner with the U.S. Small Business Administration (SBA), and has been mentoring small business owners for more than forty years.

Tickets for WTTW Fundraiser Going Fast!
Only a handful of tickets are still available from The Summit of Uptown for Phil Ponce, host of “Chicago Tonight”, the popular weeknight news and entertainment show on WTTW-TV, Channel 11, to speak on "A Report from the 50-yard Line" at a fundraising luncheon on Thursday, May 12, at noon. Tickets are available by calling 847-825-1161.
Tickets for the event are $20; $10 for seniors 65 and older. Because federal funding for public broadcasting—both radio and television—is in danger of being cut, forcing an expected 100+ stations to close their doors, a portion of the price of each ticket benefits public television and WTTW-TV.
Ponce's topic is gleaned from his nightly role on the flagship show of America's most watched PBS station, Chicago Tonight. He gives personal insights into the political, business and social trends affecting the Chicago area. Attendees will enjoy his off-the-record observations about the people, stories and issues that are making headlines.
Longtime Chicago area residents will remember John Callaway, the popular Chicago broadcast journalist, as the original host of “Chicago Tonight” which began in 1984. In 1999, Ponce succeeded Callaway as host of the program which reports primarily on local news and showcases artists and events.

Historic Preservation Poster Contest
“Saving Places that Matter to You” Poster Contest
Third Grade students are invited to participate in a poster contest celebrating National Preservation Month.
The City of Park Ridge Historic Preservation Commission (HPC) is pleased to announce its first-ever poster contest focusing on local landmarks. With this contest, the HPC hopes to increase awareness of the importance of historic preservation among the community's youth. The contest is open to all third-grade students who live in Park Ridge or attend Park Ridge schools. Complete contest rules are posted in Children’s Services at the Park Ridge Public Library and below. Rules and entry forms have also been distributed to all elementary schools in Park Ridge. Posters should depict a building or structure in Park Ridge that is important to the student. Entries are due by May 23; drop off location available at the City Hall, 2nd Floor. Winning entries, which will be announced in June, will be displayed in prominent locations in Park Ridge throughout the month. Winners and their families will be invited to attend an awards ceremony at the City Council meeting on Monday, June 6, at City Hall. Details will be forthcoming.
About the Historic Preservation Commission: The Park Ridge Historic Preservation Commission is composed of nine residents, appointed by the mayor, with the advice and consent of City Council, with various backgrounds. The Commission is responsible for many things, including identifying sites having historic significance; recommending the designation of landmarks, recommending the designation of historic districts; reviewing proposed alterations to landmarks and structures within historic districts; and educating the public about historic preservation.
The Commission meets on the first Wednesday of every month at 6:00 pm at City Hall, in the Council Chambers on the 1st floor. The public is welcome.

Community Collaboration Creates a Home Sweet Home for Park Ridge
In the current decline of the housing market, it takes a little something extra to have your house noticed amidst the unsold and foreclosed homes. For one Park Ridge home, that something extra happens to be an entire community coming together to showcase local businesses and to support Rainbow Hospice and Palliative Care.
On Saturday, May 21st from 6:00-9:00pm, “Home Sweet Home” will showcase the elegant residence of 530 North Ashland Avenue in Park Ridge. The home, listed by Park Ridge based Sebastian Realty will play host to home furnishings by Amphora and local fashions by New Prospects and Pines for Men in the latest event from Rainbow Hospice and Palliative Care.
For the past two years, a summer event hosted by Rainbow Hospice and Amphora Home Store in Park Ridge has been a big hit with the local community. For a small ticket price, partygoers get to experience great food, furnishings and a whole host of themes and events.
In addition to this year’s showcase, there will also be parking shuttle service provided by Liberty Bank for Savings, fabulous appetizers from All on the Road Catering and tea & chocolate pairings from TeaLula and Rocky Mountain Choclate Factory, as well as music by local Chicago jazz group, Joe Brown and Friends.
“This is an amazing collaboration of local business, real estate and non-profit that gives residents the opportunity to support their community and have a great time,” said Jackie Mathews, Special Events Director for Rainbow Hospice and Board President of the Park Ridge Chamber of Commerce.

Gail's Weekly Chamber UPDATE
What a great day to be an American!
Business After Hours at Gibson’s last Thursday Thank you to the staff of Gibson’s Bar and Steakhouse for a fabulous Business After Hours on Thursday!
The bar was very generous and the food was amazing – crab cakes, steak sliders, bruschetta, fresh fruits and cheeses. The crowd was full of energy and I saw a lot of business cards being passed around!

WIB at the Marriot O’Hare with Dr. Jacquot We had 28 come out for the Women in Business networking breakfast on Friday to hear Dr. Margo Jacquot, The Juniper Center, speak about communication with her topic entitled “That’s not what I said!”. She’s a wonderful speaker and engaged the audience with humor, stories, research and experience.
The Chicago Marriott O’Hare served a wonderful breakfast and Amy Carlson showcased their plans for the upcoming multi-million dollar renovation with their new color scheme. It’ll be stunning and they want to host another Chamber event afterwards too.
Dieter Heigl, the general manager, said if you know of people coming in for the Park Ridge Memorial Day Tournament, please have them stay at the Marriott O’Hare! 773-693-4444
Saturday’s Electronics Recycling With our 5th e-cycling event under our belts, we pretty well have fine-tuned it like a well oiled machine!
We have always averaged 100 cars per hour for the past events and this one was true to form. We had 315 cars come through in 3 hours – 125 cars in the first hour! So many people helped out.
Once again, Mike McGrath performed the hard work that made him a Community Star for 2010!
The Park Ridge Chamber of Commerce, the City of Park Ridge, and the Park Ridge Park District hosted an electronics recyling day at the Public Works Service Center on Saturday, April 30. A record 315 vehicles included cars, trucks, vans, one motorcycle, and a little wagon during the 3 hours filling 2 Acme semi-trucks.
Thank you to Liberty Bank for Savings, Maine Township, and Robert Provenzano (Maine Township Highway Commissioner) for sponsoring another successful e-cycling event!
Thank you to John at Spuntino's for providing the pizzas at noon for all the hungry volunteers! Thank you to the Park Ridge Police Department for their presence!
Also, thank you to the Citizens Patrol for directing traffic; Tony Tripp and Len Berg from Kiwanis and Jackie Mathews and Wes Davis from the Chamber for working the event; and to the S.W.A.P. (Sheriff's Work Alternative Program) for taking the equipment out of the vehicles and stacking them onto the pallets! And thank you to all the residents who showed up because they believed in the cause!

Business After Hours at Gibson’s last Thursday Thank you to the staff of Gibson’s Bar and Steakhouse for a fabulous Business After Hours on Thursday!
The bar was very generous and the food was amazing – crab cakes, steak sliders, bruschetta, fresh fruits and cheeses. The crowd was full of energy and I saw a lot of business cards being passed around!

WIB at the Marriot O’Hare with Dr. Jacquot We had 28 come out for the Women in Business networking breakfast on Friday to hear Dr. Margo Jacquot, The Juniper Center, speak about communication with her topic entitled “That’s not what I said!”. She’s a wonderful speaker and engaged the audience with humor, stories, research and experience.
The Chicago Marriott O’Hare served a wonderful breakfast and Amy Carlson showcased their plans for the upcoming multi-million dollar renovation with their new color scheme. It’ll be stunning and they want to host another Chamber event afterwards too.

Saturday’s Electronics Recycling With our 5th e-cycling event under our belts, we pretty well have fine-tuned it like a well oiled machine!
We have always averaged 100 cars per hour for the past events and this one was true to form. We had 315 cars come through in 3 hours – 125 cars in the first hour! So many people helped out.
Once again, Mike McGrath performed the hard work that made him a Community Star for 2010!
The Park Ridge Chamber of Commerce, the City of Park Ridge, and the Park Ridge Park District hosted an electronics recyling day at the Public Works Service Center on Saturday, April 30. A record 315 vehicles included cars, trucks, vans, one motorcycle, and a little wagon during the 3 hours filling 2 Acme semi-trucks.
Thank you to Liberty Bank for Savings, Maine Township, and Robert Provenzano (Maine Township Highway Commissioner) for sponsoring another successful e-cycling event!
Thank you to John at Spuntino's for providing the pizzas at noon for all the hungry volunteers! Thank you to the Park Ridge Police Department for their presence!
Also, thank you to the Citizens Patrol for directing traffic; Tony Tripp and Len Berg from Kiwanis and Jackie Mathews and Wes Davis from the Chamber for working the event; and to the S.W.A.P. (Sheriff's Work Alternative Program) for taking the equipment out of the vehicles and stacking them onto the pallets! And thank you to all the residents who showed up because they believed in the cause!

Book Sale! The Friends of the Library Booksale will be the weekend of May 6th. Friday night from 4:00p.m until 7:00 for members, Saturday is open to the public and Sunday the 8th. is half price sale and cleanup.
They will be starting to set up for the sale this coming Friday and Saturday. If anyone has just a couple of hours to help carrying out boxes of books, putting up tables and sorting books it would be greatly appreciated.

PR Police Department: A Service of Remembrance On Monday, May 9, 2011 at 6:30 p.m., the Park Ridge Police Department will be conducting "A Service of Remembrance" during National Police Week. This event will take place at the front steps of Park Ridge City Hall. Neighboring police departments will also be participating. 'A Service of Remembrance' is sponsored by the Park Ridge Police Department Chaplains.
National Police Week, which occurs each year during the week in which May 15 falls, recognizes the service and sacrifice of U.S. law enforcement. National Police Week pays special recognition to those law enforcement officers who have lost their lives in the line of duty for the safety and protection of others.

Dementia is associated with a number of unpleasant behaviors that threaten the well-being of persons with dementia and their caregivers. This presentation focuses on such behaviors as forms of communication and expressions of unmet needs. Potential triggers of behaviors are explored in an effort to develop creative responses aimed at preventing or minimizing them. Non-pharmacological approaches are emphasized as alternatives to psychotropic medications.

Mr. Bay is the Executive Director of the Chicago Central Area Committee. Book Sale! The Friends of the Library Booksale will be the weekend of May 6th. Friday night from 4:00p.m until 7:00 for members, Saturday is open to the public and Sunday the 8th. is half price sale and cleanup.
They will be starting to set up for the sale this coming Friday and Saturday. If anyone has just a couple of hours to help carrying out boxes of books, putting up tables and sorting books it would be greatly appreciated.

PR Police Department: A Service of Remembrance On Monday, May 9, 2011 at 6:30 p.m., the Park Ridge Police Department will be conducting "A Service of Remembrance" during National Police Week. This event will take place at the front steps of Park Ridge City Hall. Neighboring police departments will also be participating. 'A Service of Remembrance' is sponsored by the Park Ridge Police Department Chaplains.
National Police Week, which occurs each year during the week in which May 15 falls, recognizes the service and sacrifice of U.S. law enforcement. National Police Week pays special recognition to those law enforcement officers who have lost their lives in the line of duty for the safety and protection of others.

Dementia is associated with a number of unpleasant behaviors that threaten the well-being of persons with dementia and their caregivers. This presentation focuses on such behaviors as forms of communication and expressions of unmet needs. Potential triggers of behaviors are explored in an effort to develop creative responses aimed at preventing or minimizing them. Non-pharmacological approaches are emphasized as alternatives to psychotropic medications.

Written by Petite Opera’s board members, who are also Park Ridge Chamber of Commerce members, this delightful operetta will have you laughing all night long as it pokes fun at some common—and not so common—characters from Chicago and its surrounding communities. It is fun and appropriate for all ages. Absolutely no knowledge of opera is necessary. No opera heroines will die as a result of this production, and you can leave your tiaras and tuxedos at home.
