Chamber Update
Happy “World Oceans Day”, Cindy,

I heard on the radio this morning that if we don’t take action now regarding what we’re taking out of and putting into the world’s oceans that in 50 years, there will be catastrophic consequences that our children and grandchildren will have to bear.

Just a note about these eblasts: I get lots of info from our Chamber members and I’m glad! I try to incorporate everything but sometimes I forget something – its never intentional. If you’re a member and you’d like me to tell 600 other member contacts about something your business is doing, email me. Its best to write it in the 3rd person so I can copy and paste it.

Thank you for reading my eblasts – it takes me hours to write them and I appreciate that you read them.


Ribbon Cuttings Last week Amphora had their public ribbon cutting ceremony! They had tea from TeaLula and baked goods from “Baked by Betsy”.

MB Financial Bank had their ribbon cutting to celebrate their 5 year anniversary and also the opening of their drive through lanes.

PREN 1 This week is the Communications Committee meeting on Thursday here at the Chamber at 10 a.m. We plan the Chamber’s monthly newsletter, ad sheet and coupon pages and we’re looking for members who like to write articles! This committee is co-chaired by Lynda Tourloukis, You Can Say Yes! Motivational Guidance Services, and Dave Donovan with EJ Coyne. Our graphic designer is Martha Berns from Dempsey Design. Shop Park Ridge! The Chamber has a ‘Chamber Stimulus Package’. Taste of Park Ridge – Canopies on Courtland
Sat. July 11

The Chamber purchased 30 booths at the Taste of Park Ridge on Saturday, July 11, for a business expo, “Canopies on Courtland”. We anticipate hundreds, if not thousands of people coming through and of course they’re mostly residents. So, if you want to reach out to the residents of Park Ridge and surrounding communities, here’s your opportunity!

Booths are $325 each for members; $650 for Prospective Members. The four end cap booths will be $425 each and are for members only.

The layout is better this year! Our booths will face both sides of the street and will be 15 on each side – then a 10 foot aisle before the 30 Taste sponsor booths. We’re closest to Prospect. I will email you the agreement upon request.

Ribbon Cutting: Lisa’s Homemade Italian Ice Come join us at Lisa’s Homemade Italian Ice, 10 S. Northwest Hwy. on Friday June 12 at 12pm for a ribbon cutting to celebrate our exciting 3rd season. The Center of Concern The Center of Concern is hosting its 16th Annual Miniature Golf Outing and Picnic Dinner Fund raiser Tuesday June 16th from 5:30 to 8:30 p.m. (Rain Date June 17th) at the Mountain View Adventure Golf 510 E. Algonquin Rd. (west of Wolf Rd.) Des Plaines IL 60018.
The cost is $15 for adults and $8 for children under 12. Ticket price includes a delicious buffet picnic dinner (all you can eat) and desserts.
There will be girl scouts doing face painting and a balloon twister and 18 holes of miniature golf (all free), plus prizes to win for those who purchase raffle tickets!
Please RSVP by June 10th and mail ticket payment with the number of Adults and Children to The Center of Concern 1580 N. Northwest Hwy. Park Ridge IL 60068, to be sure we to have enough food on hand. Last year we had over 150 guests and it was a lovely evening.
Guests can also pay the evening of the event at Mountain View. We will have a table set up, but please let us know you are coming by June 10th, if at all possible, so we order enough food.

Todd Wessell Chic Harley Book Launch Announced
“The One and Only,” the full-length biography of the life of Charles “Chic” Harley, written by family-member Todd C. Wessell, is available now. The book can be purchased online at www.chicharley.com and at special upcoming book-signing events. A free DVD with special Harley photos and other materials will be included in book purchases while supplies last.
Wessell is Published and Editor of The Journal & Topics Newspapers based in Des Plaines, Illinois.
