Gail's Weekly Chamber UPDATE

Tomorrow is Lian’s 11th birthday so the Haller household is gearing up for another party! My mother went back to Pensacola last week – some of the members we used or visited last week while she was visiting were Houlihan’s, Panino’s, D’Agostino’s, The Perfect Dinner (twice!), Walgreens, Morningfield’s, the library – I’m sure there were more.
By the way, Morningfield’s is under new management and is NOT closing their doors! I heard the rumor too but its not true – please shop with them as they load up their shelves again!

Business After Hours Last Thursday Our monthly Business After Hours for July was hosted at Advocate Lutheran General Hospital and included tours of which my favorite was to their green roof. Did you know that 95% of the rain captured by the roof, goes into the green roof or runs down through the gutters and ends in their rain gardens – so only 5% goes into the City’s sewers. It was very interesting!
Thank you to Marcia Opal and to Tony Armada for hosting – and all the staff who stayed and gave us tours! They even served iced shrimp with the wine as one of the many appetizers so if you missed it, you missed a good party (I mean, networking event!).
I’m a participant in the Tomosynthesis (3 D mammogram) study which I mentioned at the Business After Hours and many women came up to ask about it – read down to the bottom of this eblast for the press release again. I met with Dr. Friedewald yesterday to go over my results and not only was she delightful but I’m happy to say I’m healthy!

Women in Business Our annual book review for our Women in Business is beloved by all the ladies who faithfully attend each year. Sometimes the recommended books are business, sometimes inspirational. See the list below.
Thank you to Ralph Palmisano, Cream of the Crepe, who brought over the wonderful crepes (Rise and Shine and Greekfast!). All on the Road Catering provided the coffee service (thanks, Barb!)

3-D Tomo Study Hologic tomosynthesis 3-D mammography is now available through

national research study at Advocate Lutheran General Hospital

Women aged 35 and over are invited to participate in a national research study of the Hologic, Inc. tomosynthesis 3-D mammography system. The study is being conducted at the Advocate Lutheran General Center for Advanced Care, 1700 Luther Lane, on the campus of Advocate Lutheran General Hospital, Park Ridge.
Advocate Lutheran General Hospital is the only site in the Chicago-land area selected to conduct this multicenter clinical trial of the tomosynthesis mammography system. The principal investigator for the study at this site is Sarah Friedewald, M.D., section chief breast imaging and co-medical director of the Caldwell Breast Center at Advocate Lutheran General Hospital.
The study is being done to see how breast tomosynthesis mammography, a 3-D imaging exam, compares to a conventional digital 2-D mammography exam. Approximately 1,600 to 2,400 women will participate in the study nationwide with about 450 anticipated to enroll at Advocate Lutheran General Hospital.

Women aged 35 and over who are planning to have a routine mammogram may be eligible to participate in this research study. Participants will have additional 2-dimensional and 3-dimensional views taken of the breast. The study will take about 15-30 minutes, which includes the time it takes to read and complete a consent form.
Women interested in participating in the research study should call HealthAdvisor at 1.800.3.ADVOCATE (1.800.323.8622) for more information, and mention Code 8W35 when calling about the study. There is no cost to study participants.
“We are excited that Lutheran General was selected as one of the sites for this clinical trial,” said Dr. Friedewald. “We have a high volume of patients who would potentially benefit from newer techniques in mammography.”
The Lutheran General Center for Advanced Care is a leading-edge outpatient facility dedicated to the diagnosis of breast cancer, and cancer treatment and management. It features the Caldwell Breast Center, offering state-of-the-art screening, diagnostic, treatment and counseling capabilities; a three-floor multidisciplinary Cancer Care Center with comprehensive medical oncology, radiation oncology, gynecology/oncology and specialty services; and an extensive Center for Advanced Imaging providing the latest imaging technology for all types of diagnostic needs.
