Weekly Chamber Update

Personally, from Gail

The weekend started Friday at 4:30 at Kustum Kribs Baby Boutique where Lisa Arreguin had decorated and set up an enchanting spa experience with breezy panels, strings of lights, and stations of various services. Unfortunately, after the store closed, a man broke in by breaking the front door glass! Fortunately, Lisa and her girlfriend were still there and confronted him – he ran, Lisa ran after him, got his license plate and he was arrested! What a night!
The Kalo Foundation ‘Arts and Carafes’ wine and food pairings at the PR Country Club was fabulous! What a fun time with great food, wine and friends – and silent auction items (I didn’t win anything though)!
Are you going to Rainbow Hospice Angels Ball on Oct. 16 at the Hyatt Regency O’Hare? It will be another spectacular event and the band is Gentlemen of Leisure who played at the Lake Effect event last year with Plain White T’s (‘hey there delila!’).

Sad News Sympathies are extended to Orit Gordon who’s father just passed away in Israel, within a month of her mother’s passing.

Also, Sheri Roche’s father recently passed away. Sheri is a volunteer for the Park Ridge Community Fund and organized the Harry O’Brien Community Run.

Condolences to each for the loss of their fathers.

Chamber Members Give for Residential Beautification Awards

At City Hall last Monday, I presented gift certificates from Chamber members for the Beautification Awards. Ten lucky families received awards from the Park Ridge Garden Club and the City for their beautiful yards.

Because the City budget was cut, no checks are being issued this year so the Chamber’s generous members gave 10 gift certificates for the 10 winners totaling almost $500 per winner!!! Thank you to these Chamber members for their generosity and don’t forget to shop with them:

The Park Ridge Chamber of Commerce held its monthly networking event for the Women in Business chamber members and their guests at Kustum Kribs Baby Boutique, 147 N. Northwest Highway, from 4:30 to 7:30 p.m. last Friday evening.

Several Chamber members donated their services! Thank you to Lisa Arreguin for hosting. Also big thanks to Deborah Oberschelp, Affordable Interiors, and Jay Crowley, Keller Williams Realty, for organizing, planning and arranging for the donations.

Kustum Kribs Baby Boutique discounted their merchandise 20% to all the attendees.

Thank you to those who gave and to those who came and enjoyed!
Health Care Forum
The Chamber’s Health Care Forum got together for the 4th monthly meeting and Dr. Sandra Carey, Willow Wellness Center; Dr. Michael Athans, Athans & Associates; and Wes Davis, Wes Davis & Associates spoke to educate the attendees on their areas of expertise.

Lynda Tourloukis, You Can Say…Yes! Motivational Guidance Services continued working with the group to tighten and define the vision and mission statements for the group.

Susan Scatchell, A-Abiding Care, moderates the forum which meets on the 4th Wednesday of each month here at 720 Garden from 9 to 10:30.
BAH at Dominic’s Kitchen Store Thursday! Our monthly networking business after hours is this Thursday at Dominic’s Kitchen Store, 116 Main Street.

Enjoy 15% off everything in the store (maybe not the Green Egg though – I forgot to ask) and enjoy Dominic’s ever-popular “NEW GADGET DEMO”! It’s always fun to see what’s new with a ‘what will they think of next?’ amazement!

Let us know if you can make it so we can tell Dominic how many to plan for. This networking event is included in your member dues at no additional charge!
October is our Annual Membership Drive! October is our annual membership drive! Do you know someone who is not a Chamber member? Invite them to join! If they join in October, their membership will run to 2012 - And you’ll receive a $20 Chamber gift certificate! Word of mouth is the best marketing.

Last year, we had 18 new members join in October – let’s beat that!

You can start by inviting them to our Business After Hours this Thursday at Dominic’s Kitchen Store, 5 to 7 p.m. and let them know what an active Chamber we are!
