Gail's Weekly Chamber UPDATE

Park Ridge looks so pretty right now with the snow blanketing everything in white! We enjoyed Christmas parties and festivities over the weekend – bet you did too! Everyone is home from school now and ready to enjoy the holidays!

Just a reminder that the Chamber will be closed this Thursday and Friday so that Dorothy, Cindy, Marci and I can spend Christmas with our families! Merry Christmas to you and yours!

Thank you
Outback! Wow! What a holiday luncheon we had last Wednesday! Thank you to Rich Callahan, proprietor of Outback, 8101 W. Higgins, Chicago, for hosting such a wonderful lunch for our Chamber members!
Last Monday when I sent out the eblast, we had 43 rsvp’s but by Wednesday, we had 87! Thank you to everyone who showed up for the fun time and great food – and, of course, all the networking!
We had America’s Sports Magician, Jeff Scanlon, who went table to table, entertaining guests as they awaited their food!
I took the opportunity to thank those who have served on the Chamber board, as an Ambassador, and on all the various Chamber committees. Smart people use every one of these opportunities to network and build relationships which, in turn, eventually will lead to more business. Please consider joining a committee so you, too, can build more relationships and your network of business associates.
Thank you to those who brought entries for our raffle! Dick Larsen won the Spotlight on the cover of the Chamber’s February newsletter – that man is such a lucky duck!!!

Entertainment by
Nothing But Treble Octet ‘A Night of Stars’ – Saturday, January 23, 2010
In January, the Chamber won’t have a luncheon since we’re having the annual dinner at the Park Ridge Country Club. The invitations went out Friday. Please rsvp as soon as you can. We’re hoping to have over 200 as we did last year and it’s a spectacular event that you don’t want to miss out on!
As a fundraiser, in addition to the Silent Auction, we’re going to hold a Wine raffle. You’ll pay $20 to buy a numbered cork and that number will correspond to a numbered bottle of wine. Everyone who plays is guaranteed to walk away with a bottle of wine! Can you donate a bottle of wine for the cause? We’re accepting them here at the Chamber and we promise not to drink any of the donations!!! Lynda Tourloukis donated a ‘Jeroboam’ – a wine bottle that holds the equivalent of 4 bottles, or 4/5 of a gallon!!! (Maric told me what it was called!) Dick Barton and Don Sebastian, Jr. are each donating 2 bottles of wine.

Newsletter Ads Did you know that we sell ads in the Chamber’s monthly newsletter for just $25 per month for an 1/8 page size ad?
If you pre-pay for a whole year, its only $250 so you get 2 free months! We have just a couple spots available so it’s first come, first serve. Email me a pdf of your ad or business card and we’ll do the rest.
Retail Committee Quick Survey The Chamber started a Retail Committee this year. The Committee Chair is Linda Hills, owner of Rocky Mountain Chocolate Factory. We need your input (especially all the merchants and retail stores in Park Ridge!) – thank you to Kate Hall from the Library who created the survey. Can you take a moment to take a short survey please?

Cell Phones for Soldiers
Drop Off Cell Phones for Soldiers: We’re still collecting old cell phones. District 64 will be collecting at the schools and dropping them off here at the Chamber as they did last year as part of their green initiative.
For every cell phone donated, a 60 minute phone card is sent to a military person overseas. It enables them to call home at no charge. As you can imagine, the need for the free phonecards is not decreasing. Please find all those old cell phones you don’t need, use or want any more and bring them in to the Chamber.
