Gail's Weekly Chamber UPDATE

Guess what? (I’m so excited!) I bought a car from Eric Nelson at Nelson Automotive (www.heycars.com)! It’s a ’99 little black Mercedes convertible sports car with less than 35K miles on it! This is the 3rd car our family has purchased from him over the past 5 years or so - you’d be amazed at the low prices of the 50 vehicles on his lot! Eric will treat you right!
I went to UIUC for Moms Weekend and got to spend time with Dirk. It was wonderful! I baked a Chocolate Kahlua Cake for the Moms’ bake-off but Dirk and his roommates declared it a winner and didn’t want to share it…’I coulda been a contender!!!’

There were about 130 people who attended the Multi Chamber Networking Luncheon with Rosemont, Mt. Prospect & Des Plaines Chambers at the Hyatt Regency O'Hare last Wednesday.
The speaker, Margaret Stender, President & CEO for the Chicago Sky/WNBA, discussed the team’s new home court, Allstate Arena, and about the players themselves and introduced the coaches. It was fun and fascinating!
Every attendee received a goody bag that included 2 tickets for the opening game! If you aren’t going to use your tickets, bring them by the Chamber and we’ll pass them out to those that want to go (I could use one more ticket!)
Thank you to the Hyatt for hosting with a fabulously delicious lunch!

This Friday is the last Friday of April! The Women in Business this month is a lunchtime meeting to be held here at the Chamber. Panino’s will cater it.
Debbie Harris, TriPilates, is our keynote speaker who’s topic is “Be Good to Yourself – Mind, Body and Spirit”. I’ve heard Debbie speak before and she’s wonderful!

Red Geraniums are the OFFICIAL flower of Park Ridge!

Will you buy a flat of red geraniums from the Chamber?

The Chamber will buy red geraniums wholesale and sell them in mid May:

1. 4 ½ inch pots will sell for $4.50 each
2. 6 inch pots for $7.00 each

Email or call with your quantity. We prefer cash or check for payment unless it’s a big order. I’d also prefer to pre-sell them so we don’t get stuck with tons that I have to water and take care of here at the Chamber!
Here are some more ideas that need a champion:

1. A Legislative Forum
2. A Health Care Forum – Susan Scatchell from A-Abiding Care has agreed to champion this forum! Are you interested in joining?
3. A Community Garden which would be for the entire community of Park Ridge – the owner of the empty lot across from Jewel gave tentative approval!
4. St. Paul of the Cross Sunday Night Suppers – volunteering to make and/or serve meals for 100 hungry people?

3rd Annual North Shore Women’s Conference – A Great Opportunity for Your Business!

Presenting Sponsors will receive the following: Listing as Presenting Sponsor with logo on ads, websites, invitations, programs, posters and banner, Expo booth in prime location and four luncheon tickets.
The event will be widely promoted to professional women throughout the North Shore via advertising in the What’s Happening Community Newspapers and Pioneer Press Newspapers, plus media releases, posters, and the publications and websites of the 18 sponsoring chambers of commerce.
