Member News as of October 8th

Though the Members News is normally out on Thursday, yesterday was such a busy day! I was at Jason’s Deli last night for the fundraiser for the Park Ridge Community Fund and also got a massage from Laura T. Clark Massage, 847-707-5462. For my husband’s birthday on Oct. 5, we ordered from Perry’s Pizzeria, 847-823-4422, – they have great double dough pizzas that he loves! And we had Pro Windows, 847-825-4890, over to replace a broken window in our house! Wherever possible, I always try to spend my money with Chamber members first – hope you do too!

The maps will be out in the Oct. 21 Pioneer Press mailing to every home in Park Ridge. Also included is the Park Ridge Community Fund request for donations so please look for both items.
The mother of Diane Forsythe and Karen Nelson, and grandmother of Eric Nelson, passed away this week. Our deepest sympathy to the entire family. Services will be in Wisconsin.

MB Financial Bank is dedicated to being a part of the “pink” movement during October to help find a cure for breast cancer. A supporter of the Making Strides Against Breast Cancer Walk since 2002, for every new MB Red Checking account opened from October 1 through October 31, 2010, MB will donate $10 to the American Cancer Society. By opening an MB Red Checking account, you’ll not only help fund research to find a cure for a disease that has touched too many lives, but you’ll also be getting a checking account that pays a very strong rate at a time when interest rates are low on savings accounts and basically non-existent with many checking accounts. MB Red Checking is especially attractive to those who use Internet banking and bill pay and a debit card for nearly all of their purchases.

To add another $10 to MB’s American Cancer Society donation and to learn more about MB Red Checking, members and friends and family of the Park Ridge Chamber of Commerce can go to www.RedChecking.com , call me at 847-745-3580 or visit the Park Ridge Branch at 1014 Busse Highway at Oakton Street.

Roosevelt School Invites Veterans to Participate in November 11 Recognition Event

Roosevelt School in Park Ridge-Niles School District 64 is sending out an early invitation to local veterans who would be interested in participating at its annual Veterans Day recognition event on Thursday, November 11.

“We are inviting local veterans of any age to spend the day with us,” according to Principal Kevin Dwyer. “During the day we hold a school assembly and veterans visit different classrooms to share their stories with students. This has traditionally been one of the highlights at Roosevelt School every fall,” he added.

Veterans who are interested in participating this year should register in advance or obtain more information by contacting coordinator Larry Ryles, 847-720-4883. Each year, about 25 veterans from many different eras and services come forward to share their experiences with Roosevelt School students.
