Weekly Chamber Update

Check out our Facebook page: www.facebook.com/parkridgechamber and like us! Big Shot Marketing came over and helped me set it up so I’ve been putting pictures on it. See if you can find your picture! We also have a twitter account which I try to update daily.

First Fridays is this Friday – Passport to Park Ridge. Are you participating? We’re printing the booklet so if you haven’t sent us your clue, we need it today please!

Fairview has a huge crane in front of Panino’s but they are still open for business! Please come out!

Start thinking about who you want to nominate for a Park Ridge Community Star for 2011. Our annual dinner will be on Saturday, January 21, at the Park Ridge Country Club.

Also, we’re looking for new board members interested in serving on the Chamber’s board of directors. A nominating committee has been appointed by the president of the board, Jackie Mathews, and consists of Jackie Mathews, Theresa Olson, Dave Donovan, Jay Crowley and me. Let one of us know if you’re interested in serving on the board. It’s a hard working board and very rewarding!

What a wonderful event! The Chamber’s monthly Business After Hours last Thursday held at Rosewood Restaurant in Rosemont was fabulous! We had about 45 people and the Rosewood was so generous – they had food stations set up plus waiters passing appetizers plus an open bar for 2 hours! Nadya Zimmerman, Tanya Travel, won the $50 gift certificate that Rosewood donated to the Chamber!

New group for retailers! Happened last Wednesday and continues each month on the last Wednesday. 6:30 to 8:00 p.m. at the Park Ridge Nonprofit Center, 720 Garden Street. Sheila Duda, TeaLula, chair of the Retail Committee will facilitate this new group. Next one is Wednesday, October 26.

The first topic was ‘Facebook for Business’ and Mark Maloney, Findzall, and Ben Wilson, Falkor Group, answered all the questions!

Don’t forget our Membership Drive for the Chamber!

Bring in a new member during October, and receive a $25 Chamber gift certificate! The new member needs to list you under ‘referred by’ on the application.

New members approved between now and the end of the year will be in good standing through the end of next year, 12/31/2012.

City Seeks Task Force Volunteers by Today!

The City would like to invite interested individuals to serve on two newly created task forces.

The Economic Development Task Force will be comprised of approximately 15 volunteers from a cross-section of the community. Members will include a blend of people from the business community, non-profit, and consumer perspectives. The purpose of the task force is to gain feedback in the areas of marketing, business retention, and business attraction. A letter of interest, including applicable qualifications, should be submitted to the Deputy City Manager, 505 Butler Place, by October 3. Initially, the task force will meet on a monthly basis.

The Sign Review Task Force will be comprised of 8 to 10 individuals from the community, both business and property owners. These individuals will be asked to review the sign ordinance and recommend appropriate changes. Letters of interest should be submitted to the Community Preservation and Development Manager, 505 Butler Place, by October 3. The Sign Task Force is expected to meet as needed to complete its review.
